Using QR Codes for Event Check-In

The three ways to scan people in, and what to check if a scan doesn't register.

Where the QR comes from

Every event with check-in enabled gets a real, branded QR code, church logo, branch name (for multi-branch churches), and a "Scan to check in" caption, generated from the event's own check-in link.

Three ways to scan

  • QR Device - a physical handheld scanner, it types the scanned code like a keyboard and submits automatically, no app or camera needed
  • Camera Scan - uses your phone or laptop's own camera through the browser
  • Kiosk Mode - a dedicated full-screen, unattended scanning station meant to sit at an entrance and continuously scan one guest after another

Kiosk Mode intentionally has no sidebar or navigation, exit by closing the browser tab or navigating away directly, it's designed to be left running rather than clicked through.

If check-in doesn't seem to register

Confirm the scanned code actually matches a real member code or registration, a card or QR generated before the member's code changed won't resolve correctly.
