What triggers "closed"

A form becomes closed once its Close Date/Time passes, or once it reaches its configured Response Limit, whichever happens first.

What a visitor sees

Rather than showing the form and then rejecting the submission, Sermfy checks whether a form is closed before rendering it at all. A visitor who opens a closed form's link sees a clear "This Form Is No Longer Accepting Responses" message instead of fields they can't actually submit.

This check also runs again on the server when a submission is sent, so even someone who had the form open before it closed, or who bypasses the page entirely, can't sneak in a late submission after the cutoff.

Best practice

If you're using a Response Limit for something like limited event seating, set the limit a little below your true hard capacity, this gives you a small buffer for last-minute manual additions without needing to raise the limit under pressure.
