Setting Membership Card Validity
Configure how long a generated membership card remains valid, or leave it open-ended.
Where to set it
Under Settings, your church has a Membership Card Validity setting, measured in years. Leaving it blank means cards never expire by default.
What validity affects
This is a data field on generated cards, an expected expiry date, it doesn't currently trigger automatic reminders or block a card from being used past that date, Sermfy doesn't yet enforce validity beyond displaying it.
If your church doesn't have a formal card-renewal process, it's reasonable to leave this blank rather than setting a validity period you don't have a follow-up plan for.
Best practice
Only set a validity period if you have an actual renewal workflow in mind, printing "Valid until [date]" on a card without a plan to reissue it afterward can create confusion for members carrying an apparently expired card.
