Setting Up a Group Contribution: Dues, Funeral, or Wedding Collections

Set up a dedicated ledger for a group's dues or collections, kept completely separate from church-wide Finance.

What group contributions are for

Groups now have their own Contributions feature, a ledger built specifically for tracking dues, funeral collections, wedding collections, or any other group-specific collection, entirely separate from church-wide Finance, tithes and offerings live in Finance, group collections live here, and the two never mix.

Choosing a contribution type

When you set up a new contribution for a group, you pick from four types, Dues, Funeral, Wedding, or Other, the type is mainly for labeling and reporting within the group, so members and leaders can tell at a glance what a given collection is for.

Who can see it

Only the group's leaders and admins can see the group's contribution activity, and even then only for that specific group, they never see a member's full church-wide giving history through this feature, it's scoped strictly to what's collected inside this one group.

Best practice

Decide on the contribution type and structure before you announce it to the group, switching a collection's purpose after members have already started paying into it makes the ledger harder to read later.
