What it's for
Group Check-In lets a group's leader record attendance for their own group's meeting (a cell group gathering, a ministry rehearsal) separately from a full church service session.
Who can do it
This is scoped to leaders of that specific group, a Group Admin check permission determines whether a given member can take attendance for the group they lead, rather than any logged-in user being able to check in any group.
Group-level attendance feeds into that group's own engagement picture without inflating your main church-wide service attendance numbers, keep the two separate in your head when reviewing reports.
Viewing group attendance history
A group's page shows its own attendance history, separate from the church-wide Attendance History page, which only reflects full service sessions.
