Group Permissions: What Leaders Can and Can't Do

A clear line between what group leadership grants and what still needs an admin-level role.

What a leader can typically do

  • Take Group Check-In attendance for their own group
  • View and manage their group's member list
  • Be considered as an auto-assignment target in Follow-Up (if Group Leaders or Both mode is enabled)

What requires a higher role

Creating new group categories, approving other leader requests, and changing a group's category assignment typically require an admin-level role, not just group leadership.

Group permissions are scoped to the specific group a person leads, being a leader of one Cell Group doesn't grant any permissions over a different group, even in the same category.

If a leader seems to be missing an action

Check that their Group Leader request was actually approved, a pending request grants no permissions at all.
