Setting Your Absence Threshold
Decide how many consecutive missed services turns a member into an absentee, and how it interacts with Priority.
Where to set it
Under Follow-Up, then Settings, then Absence Threshold, define the number of consecutive missed services before a member is automatically flagged.
How it interacts with Priority
Priority is separate from your threshold and can't be manually overridden, once a member crosses your threshold and becomes an absentee, priority is calculated purely from consecutive absences: 1 = Low, 2 = Medium, 3 = High, 4+ = Critical.
A threshold set too low (flagging after a single missed service) can flood your Absentees page with low-priority cases that don't need urgent follow-up. A threshold set too high delays real intervention for people genuinely drifting away.
Best practice
Most churches find flagging after 2 consecutive misses gives a reasonable early-warning window without overwhelming the follow-up team, adjust from there based on how large your follow-up team is relative to your membership.
