Message Templates for Follow-Up Notifications

The default SMS templates behind every assignment, transfer, reminder, and completion notice.

The four templates

Under Follow-Up, then Settings, then Message Templates, Sermfy provides default wording for:

  • New Assignment - sent when someone is first given a case
  • Assignment Transfer - sent when a case is handed to someone else
  • Follow-Up Reminder - sent as a due-date approaches
  • Completion - sent when a follow-up is marked done

Each template supports the @@member_name and, for reminders, @@due_date merge fields.

Editing templates

Templates can be customized to match your church's tone, but keep the merge fields intact, removing @@member_name from the New Assignment template, for example, leaves your team members with a generic notification that doesn't tell them who they've been assigned.

Keep these messages short and action-oriented, a follow-up team member reading a notification on their phone benefits more from "You've been assigned Jane Mensah" than a long paragraph of context they'll get from opening the app anyway.

Best practice

Review your Completion template's tone periodically, it's the one message type your team sees most often if your church has a healthy, active follow-up culture, and a message that feels rote after the hundredth read is worth refreshing.
