Understanding Giving Receipts

What's on a receipt, the difference between manual and automatic receipts, and what happens with no email on file.

What's on a receipt

A generated receipt includes the giver's name, amount, fund, date, and a unique receipt number, delivered as a PDF and, when Giving Receipt automation is enabled, emailed automatically.

Manual vs. automatic receipts

You can generate and send a receipt manually for any past gift at any time, automation just removes the need to do that step yourself going forward for new gifts.

If a giver later asks for a copy, find the original gift in their giving history and resend the same receipt rather than generating a new one with a different receipt number.

No email on file

A receipt still generates and attaches to the gift record even without an email address, it simply isn't emailed, you can download and share it manually instead.
