Understanding Attendance Rate for Registration-Required Events
Learn how attendance rate is now calculated against actual registrants so the figure never shows above 100%.
What attendance rate measures for these events
For events that require registration, attendance rate is calculated against the people who actually registered for that event, someone who registered but didn't attend counts against the rate, and someone who attended without registering doesn't inflate it.
The fix
Previously, this calculation could occasionally show a rate above 100%, which obviously doesn't make sense for a percentage, that's been corrected so the rate is now calculated properly against the actual registrant list, and will no longer exceed 100%.
Reading the number
A lower attendance rate on a registration-required event usually points to no-shows rather than a data problem, if you're seeing a rate that seems off, check the registrant list against who was actually checked in for that event before assuming something's wrong with the calculation itself.
Best practice
Use attendance rate on registration-required events to spot no-show trends over time, a consistently low rate across similar events is a signal worth following up on, whether that's a reminder timing issue or a sign the registration process itself needs adjusting.
