Ending a Service Session
Why formally closing a session matters, beyond just walking away from the check-in screen.
Why closing matters
A session isn't just "done" when people stop arriving, it needs to be explicitly closed. Several things depend on this: your Attendance History page only shows closed sessions with final numbers, Attendance Report automation only fires once a session closes, and an unclosed session with people already checked in will show up as an abandoned session on the Dashboard's Resume Check-In card.
How to close a session
Use the End control (the red pill in the check-in header) once your service is genuinely finished and all arrivals have been checked in.
Don't close a session too early if people are still arriving, once closed, it moves into your permanent Attendance History with whatever numbers were recorded at that point.
Best practice
Make closing the session part of your standard end-of-service checklist for whoever runs check-in, an easy step to forget in the moment, but one that quietly affects several other parts of Sermfy if skipped.
