What Happens When You Delete a Member
What deletion actually does today, and why it's worth exporting before a large bulk delete.
Single and bulk delete
You can delete a member individually from their profile, or select multiple members from the list and use Bulk Delete from the action bar, both use the same underlying delete action, so the result is identical whether you delete one record or fifty at once.
What's not available yet
Unlike Forms and Form Submissions, which have a dedicated Trash with a 30-day self-service Restore option, Members does not currently have a Trash/Restore screen. Treat a member delete as a considered action rather than an easily-reversible one.
Before running a large Bulk Delete, export the selected members first (see Exporting Members to Excel or PDF). It's a cheap safety step that costs seconds and gives you a way to manually re-enter records if a delete turns out to be a mistake.
Best practice
If you're unsure whether a member record should be permanently removed versus simply marked inactive, prefer changing their Member Status to inactive instead of deleting. This preserves their attendance, giving, and Life Events history while removing them from your active-member counts.
