Self-Registration: Sharing a Member Registration Link or QR Code

Let people register themselves through a public link or a branded QR code, and understand exactly what they see and don't see.

When to use this method

Self-registration is ideal for events, new-member classes, or simply printing a QR code at your welcome desk, letting people add themselves to your records without a staff member manually typing anything.

From Members, open More Action on the list page, then Copy Registration Link or Generate Registration QR. If your church has more than one branch, you'll pick a branch first, each branch gets its own distinct link and QR code, since a person registering at your Takoradi branch shouldn't land in your Accra branch's roster.

What the public form collects

The public form intentionally shows a smaller set of fields than the internal Add Member form:

  • Member Status is not shown - it's automatically set to your default active-equivalent status, this is an internal/administrative concept, not something a self-registrant should be choosing
  • Family linking is not shown - that stays an admin-only action, done later from the member's profile

Everything else, personal, contact, education, employment, works the same as manual entry.

What happens on submission

A completed public registration creates a real member record directly, the same as if a staff member had typed it in manually, there's no separate approval or review step by default.

Print the QR code on a physical stand at your welcome table rather than only sharing the link digitally, many first-time visitors find scanning faster than typing a URL on their phone.

Best practice

Check your registration link periodically to confirm it still points to the branch you expect, especially after any branch renaming or restructuring.
