Moving a child into Member or Visitor status
When a child ages out of Children's Ministry, or is ready to move into full church membership, their record can be promoted or transferred into a Member or Visitor record, this is the formal path from being tracked as a child to being tracked as an adult participant in the church.
The original record stays put
Promoting or transferring a child doesn't delete their Children's Ministry record, it stays in the system permanently as history, so you can always look back and see a person's full journey through the church, starting from when they were first registered as a child.
A promoted or transferred child's status updates to Transferred, which is distinct from Inactive, Transferred specifically means they moved onward into a Member or Visitor record rather than simply stopping attendance.
Best practice
Treat promotion as a deliberate milestone rather than routine cleanup, do it when a child is genuinely ready to be tracked as a Member or Visitor, since it's the moment their history bridges from a child's record into the rest of the church's records.
