Partner Portal vs Church Login: What's the Difference

Explains why partners, churches, and Sermfy staff each use a separate login, and what a partner can and can't see.

Separate by design

Sermfy runs three distinct login experiences: church staff log into their own church's account, Sermfy staff log into internal admin, and partners log into the Partner Portal, these are kept deliberately apart from each other rather than being different views inside one shared login.

Why the separation exists

A partner isn't a church user, and a church login exists to manage that specific church's day-to-day operations, membership, giving, events, and so on, none of which has anything to do with what a partner needs, which is visibility into referrals and commissions instead.

What stays out of view

Logging into the Partner Portal never gives you access to any referred church's internal data, no member records, no financial details, no attendance, no matter how many churches you've referred or how much commission they've generated, your visibility stops at subscription status and commission figures.

If a church you referred asks you to help with something inside their own Sermfy account, that's outside what the Partner Portal can do, that request needs to go through the church's own login and, if needed, Sermfy support, not through you as their partner.

Best practice

Set clear expectations with churches you refer about what you can and can't see, being upfront that you have no visibility into their internal data helps avoid confusion later if they assume you can help with something inside their account.
